Links BREAD MACHINE - You will need a bread machine. These vary in price from under $50 to around $200. Features on machines vary so check them out  carefully. Some machines make only a one pound loaf. Others claim to be able to make up to two pound loaves. Some bread pans are vertical, others are horizontal. Most folks prefer a machine that makes a 1½ to 2 pound loaves and a horizontal loaf. Some machines have several settings for special breads and crust settings.  Some come with recipes for making jam and jellies. Most let you mix and knead your dough in the machine and then bake in the oven if you prefer. Thrift stores and garage sales are good sources for used bread machines. See if you can try these out first. Make sure the paddle(s) are intact and heating elements work. We suggest comparing brands and models before making a final choice.

MEASURING CUPS AND SPOONS - Bread machines require more accurate measuring than hand made bread. Flour and dry ingredients call for level   measurement. Cups and spoons you can level with a straight edge knife or spatula are essential.

FLOUR - Some recipes call for bread flour which can be flour with a higher  protein content or it can be flour with certain additives. You might also need whole wheat, rye,  and other flours. See flour.

YEAST - We suggest using instant yeast (this is also sold as bread machine yeast. See yeast.

OTHER - Some recipes call for dry milk, instant potato flakes, and other  things  that you may not have. We suggest you read the recipes on this site and in your   machine's manual to give you an idea  about what else you might need.
